Justification

MURDER was not as easy as he first thought. Killing in Vietnam was justified because it was a kill or be killed situation. Killing just to get even was not for Jimmy to determine or use as an excuse. Jimmy was being judge, jury, and executioner. He attended church most of his life and knew the sixth commandment, “Thou shall not kill”. Avoiding a confrontation with his conscience and God was not easy. Jimmy was trying every which way to avoid even thinking about his Maker. He would worry about asking for forgiveness later, much later – perhaps after he was satisfied that he had done what he needed to do. His Maker had become an “unproven God”. What kind of loving God allowed evil things to happen? Besides, nothing was sweeter than killing those that had destroyed his music dream, the opportunity to record, the ones that took Pepe’s life, and those who turned him into a ‘Panchostein’. Justice was his if he could stick with Santos. Screw his conscience and anyone that was going to interfere with the law of revenge.

A week had passed and Coche was still alive. Jimmy went and visited Santos and asked him if something had gone wrong. He told him he had injected Coche with the tainted needle.

“Pendejo, it takes about 8 days for the rabbis to start taking affect. Be patient. Let him suffer. It’s sweeter that way, believe me, hmm, sweet,” answered Santos with a big smile. “This is revenge – are you still willing to go through with this?” he asked.

Jimmy knew it was not going to be easy handling the emotional and psychological part of murdering people. He looked up at the dark sky and swallowed everything that was wrong as a right.

“Yeah, let’s do, let’s finish those bastards!” he exclaimed.

“Esta bueno, cabron, no stopping now – this is your battle not mine. I don’t know those guys and I don’t care to know them either,” continued Santos.

Sure enough, a week later, Jimmy finds out that Coche is in the hospital in critical condition. He dressed up as a maintenance worker and went up to his room. He looked Coche into his eyes and waved a guitar pick to make Coche aware that he was behind it. Coche was burning with fever and restrained so he wouldn’t bite himself or others. Jimmy threw the pick at his face and walked out with no remorse. No one saw him. A few days later, Coche died in a slow and extremely painful manner. Officially, Jimmy was now a murderer. He had broken the standard law on earth as well as God’s law.
